KIMBERLY, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — A skier navigates the cliffs and rock features on the frontside of Magic Mountain Ski Resort in Southern Idaho near Kimberly. The family owned destination is joining the Indy Pass this winter, bringing the total number of Gem State ski areas accessible via the popular multiresort pass product to eight. It will also begin selling single-ride lift tickets (uphill only) for backcountry and cross-country skiers and snowshoers desiring a “lift bump.” In addition, Magic Mountain expanded its beginner terrain and added a second magic carpet, and it expanded the Twilight Tubing Hill by adding a new area for beginners and children. Guests can rent the entire mountain on its nonoperational days, and the mountain has added new private weekday tubing sessions for schools, churches, businesses, and other organizations and large groups. MCCALL, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — Construction at Norhaven, Brundage Mountain Resort’s second slopeside neighborhood, continues. The resort, which expects to begin winter operations Nov. 28, is among nine of Idaho’s 19 ski areas opening by the end of the month. ALTA, Wyo. (Nov. 3, 2025) — On a rare bluebird day, a skier dives into some of the fresh pow that Grand Targhee Resort receives more than 500 inches of annually. The destination was rated no. 5 in SKI Magazine’s list of the top 30 ski resorts in the West for 2026. RIRIE, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — A skier jibs a rail at Kelly Canyon Resort’s terrain park. The Eastern Idaho resort near Ririe has installed a new rope tow to serve the terrain park, which will boast 13 new features, including dancefloors, F-boxes, spines, and 10-inch-diameter tanker tubes. It also cleared and graded a new cat track between the tops of Lift 2 and Lift 4 to provide easy access to more terrain when the latter chair is not running, plus it opened a whole new glade below that. MULLAN, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — A snowboarder descends a groomer at Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area in North Idaho near the historic town of Wallace. Idaho’s oldest continuously operating ski area, Lookout Pass is celebrating its 90th anniversary this winter and made many trail improvements over the summer, expanded its lower parking lot, is completing a U.S. Forst Service bathroom at the bottom of the Eagle Peak Chair, and is offering a new Lift Ticket 3 Pack for only $179 if purchased by Dec. 1. INKOM, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — A young skier rides Pebble Creek Ski Area’s magic carpet, which is one of America's longest magic carpets and spans 700 feet from the lower parking lot to the top of the First Timer run. Near Inkom, the Southeast Idaho ski area installed the new surface lift prior to last winter. This summer it completed a major overhaul of the Aspen Beginner Lift, including the installation of a brand-new control system, and the resort continues to expand its snowmaking capabilities. ALBION, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — Skiers descend the always immaculately groomed Milk Run at Pomerelle Mountain Resort in Southern Idaho near Albion. Updates for this winter include $30,000 of new gear for the rental fleet and the replacement of the conveyor belt on its magic carpet, which at 440 feet is one of the longest in the West. The family owned resort put the final touches on a new lodge roof, a project that began last year, and installed high-tech, energy-efficient windows. Visit skiidaho.us for more details. HAILEY, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — Rotarun Ski Area in Central Idaho near Hailey plans to begin winter operations Dec. 20. It is installing a magic carpet, which will be free to all users, although guests ages 5 and up will need to purchase a lift ticket to ride the Poma lift — except on Wednesday nights when everyone skis free. SANDPOINT, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — This winter marks the second season Schweitzer in North Idaho near Sandpoint is serving up guided snowcat and snowmobile excursions. The resort, Idaho’s largest in terms of skiable acres, expects to begin winter operations Nov. 21 and is among nine of Idaho’s 19 ski areas opening by the end of the month. New offerings this winter include expanded Ski & Ride School offerings, an early ups breakfast series called Summit Sunrise Breakfast at Sky House on select Saturdays and Sundays, and the return of Sky House Snowcat Dinners on full-moon evenings. KELLOGG, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — Gus Colburn, marketing manager at Silver Mountain Resort, descends through a glade at the North Idaho ski area in Kellogg. For this winter, the resort conducted extensive thinning in new areas of the North Face Glades, expanded the run Sheer Bliss, and trimmed and gladed traverses throughout the mountain. It also improved signage and made repairs and updates to the transceiver park, plus it is extending tubing to seven days per week and is opening the Rossignol Experience Center in Silver Mountain Sports. FAIRFIELD, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — Soldier Mountain near Fairfield in Southern Idaho opened 250 acres of intermediate and expert terrain for two weekends last March that it will open this winter for guided excursions on select dates aboard the TRAX side-by-side UTV the resort added to its catskiing fleet. Guests possessing the necessary skills and equipment can also reach the Bridge Creek Sidecountry Project’s steep, north-facing ridges and trees by foot on established bootpack trails or by skinning up in alpine touring gear. The resort has made numerous improvements to the mountain in advance of this winter and is hosting high-profile competitions and athlete training opportunities throughout the upcoming ski season. SUN VALLEY, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — Lucy Sackbauer, a pro skier on Nordica’s freeride crew, enjoys some off-piste pow at Sun Valley Resort. America’s first destination resort is opening 90 acres of newly gladed terrain this winter in celebration of its 90th season. The four new advanced runs between Canyon, Exhibition, and Olympic are the result of the resort’s Bald Mountain Forest Stewardship Project with the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and National Forest Foundation. Sun Valley is also introducing RFID technology across all base areas of Bald and Dollar Mountains. DONNELLY, Idaho (Nov. 3, 2025) — Guests enjoy Tamarack Resort’s mid-mountain lodge, which opened last ski season. The Southwest Idaho destination — America’s only ski, golf, and lake resort — expects to begin winter operations Nov. 28 and is among nine of Idaho’s 19 ski areas opening by the end of the month. This winter it is unveiling 50-60 acres of new, advanced ski runs south of Bliss in the wake of the Rock Fire, and it expanded its main green run, Waltz, and mobilized additional snowmaking resources to ensure early opening conditions and consistent coverage all season.
